The story behind what we're building
PlanProve is a CRM built for UK planning consultants, bringing sites, deadlines, documents, and client updates into one place instead of scattered across spreadsheets, inboxes, and separate tools.
Every planning practice is running several live projects at once, each with its own deadlines, conditions, documents, and clients waiting on an update. Most of the software available wasn't built with a planning practice in mind. A spreadsheet for deadlines here, a separate time tracking tool there, emails and PDFs scattered across inboxes everywhere. Nothing talks to anything else, and the admin eats into the time that should go to the actual planning work.
We're building PlanProve to fix that.
Running a planning practice means constant coordination: chasing specialist reports, tracking statutory deadlines across every live application, keeping clients updated without repeating yourself in five different emails, and catching the small formatting errors that slip through when you're moving fast across too many projects at once.
None of this is about a lack of expertise. Planning professionals know their craft. It's the admin around the craft that drags on time, and most software built for the wider construction and property industry doesn't understand what a planning practice actually needs day to day.
PlanProve is planning application management software built for planning consultants. It brings every site, every deadline, every document, and every team conversation into one place.
Sites and applications move through clear stages, from site appraisal through to discharge of conditions, so a practice always knows where things stand. Statutory deadlines get tracked automatically instead of living in a separate spreadsheet. Time tracking, invoicing, and team task management sit alongside the project itself, not in a different tool.
When it's useful, clients can be invited to see progress on their own project too. A homeowner or landowner gets a simple, read-only view of where things are up to and what documents have been shared with them, without needing their own separate account to chase updates.
PlanProve was built by Joel Grist, a planning consultant himself, working across both the public and private sector before starting PlanProve. This isn't software built by an outsider guessing at what a planning practice needs. It's built by someone who has sat inside the admin himself and knows exactly where the friction is.
We're a small team based in Bristol, building carefully and staying close to the practices actually using the platform. Every feature gets shaped by what real consultants tell us is slowing them down, not by what looks impressive in a demo.
